Celebrating 17 years of saving lives, restoring hope

As part of September's National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, The Empowerment Network, Inc. hosted the Prostate Cancer Awareness Jazz Luncheon, Saturday, September 27 at the Orlando Gardens Event Center.

The emcee for the luncheon was Rene Knott, former morning news anchor on "Today in St. Louis" on KSDK Channel 5, who talked about his father's bout with prostate cancer. Our keynote speaker Mitch Baden, President & CEO of Royal Banks of Missouri, who shared an emotional talk about his colon cancer.

Saxophonist Gerry Huggins set a relaxing mood with smooth jazz sounds.

The theme of our event, “2.5 Daddy - Stay Alive in 2025,” serves as a powerful and poignant reminder of the urgent health disparities faced by African Americans, who are tragically 2.5 times more likely to succumb to certain diseases.

This statement not only highlights the pressing need for awareness and action but also sets an inspiring goal for the future: to achieve a PSA test score of no higher than 2.5. Together, we can foster a community that prioritizes health education, empowers individuals to take charge of their wellbeing, and ultimately works towards a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Let us unite in our mission to conquer these challenges and ensure a healthier future for generations to come.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to relief efforts in the aftermath of the tragic and devastating tornado that tore through parts of St. Louis on May 16, 2025.

Welcome to The Empowerment Center's 16th Anniversary Gala.
